Gardening

This summer Devin and I were so excited to start our garden! Devin decided everything he wanted to plant and we went out to a greenhouse and bought our little plants and any extra seeds we needed. We also bought flowers to plant in front of the house in the flower bed. We bought some herbs, tomato, and strawberry plants. Devin was most excited about his asparagus plant he got...we'll see how that one is in 3 years when it's ready to eat!

Since we don't have a fence around our yard, and there are soo many bunnies around, after we plant the garden Devin puts up some 'fencing' around the garden bed so we don't just feed the bunnies.

All summer Devin weeded and watered and took care of the garden. We ate fresh lettuce and spinach through the summer. We had (and are just finishing up) carrots and onions. We had radishes, tomatoes, peas, bean and beets.

We pickled the beets and froze a bunch of peas and beans as well. It made us feel so good to have grown and harvested some of our own food. I feel awesome every time we pull some of our homegrown food of the freezer or storage and use it.

Devin hard at work!
