Halloween and after

Mom and I had grand plans for Halloween this year. We had cute crafting ideas and a whole bunch of things. We made one of the things...it turned out pretty cute, but took WAY longer than I thought it would.

How cute is that?!

Dad, Amber and Devin carving their pumpkins.

I made my own version of an edible arrangement for a friend for her bday.

Dad finished carving his pumpkin and went to bed. He wasn't feeling great. The next morning Mom called just after 7am and asked Devin to come give Dad a blessing. So we went over on our way to work and Dad was not looking good. He had been sick and in major pain all night. Mom took him to the ER as soon as we left. They did a bunch of tests and decided that he had a bowel obstruction. They took him into surgery by 5pm that night. It turned out that he had a twist in the bowel which caused the obstruction. The surgeon didn't take any bowel out, but there was a rough patch, so Dad couldn't eat anything for quite a while to let it heal. The put him on TPN and fluids for a few weeks. He had a few relapses and things were not fun for him in the least.

Dad was such a trouper. I did not once hear him complain about his situation. He never once said "Why me" or "Dang it to heck, anyways!" like I became fond of saying during that time. He was in the hospital for something like 23 days. Mom was there from first thing in the morning until supper, would go home and be with Amber for an hour or so and then be back at the hospital until Dad wanted to sleep. The day Dad came home, was such a happy day!

There were so many people who prayed for our family. People who didn't even know Dad personally, prayed for him. It was amazing the love our family felt during that awful month. Heavenly Father showed us that he knows us personally and loves us.
